Consultants are encouraged to participate in professional bodies. This includes serving on standards making committees, including those of the British Standards Institution.

In order to demonstrate competence, those undertaking fire risk assessments are required to join the Register of Fire Risk Assessors and Auditors compiled by the Institution of Fire Engineers. This requires that those joining the register go through a process through which their qualifications, training and experience are evaluated, along with examples of fire risk assessments that they have completed. Founder and Managing Director. Early career spent with the FOC (now LPC) and in insurance risk management.

Steven Daws BSc, MSc, FBEng, C.Eng, MIFireE

Technical Director. Formerly with a major firm of consulting engineers as a specialist in fire protection engineering. Steven is a chartered fire engineer.

Douglas Mason BSc, C.Eng, MIEE, MAES

Formerly the Technical Director of Planned Equipment Ltd, Douglas is a senior consultant specializing in the design and engineering of fire detection and voice alarm systems.

Denys Tidbury MIFireE, MIOSH

As an experienced fire prevention officer, formerly an ADO with Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Denys undertakes fire risk assessments and surveys, and also provides general advice.

Roy Oliver

Formerly an ADO with Kent Fire Brigade, Roy is an experienced fire safety officer. He undertakes fire risk assessments and surveys, and also provides general advice.

John Kluth BSc(Eng), MIFireE, C.Eng, MRAeS

Prior to joining CSTA, John was Fire and Safety Manager for Barclays Bank. He also has extensive experience of fire insurance surveying. He undertakes fire risk assessments and audits, presents specialist fire engineering courses and provides fire engineering advice.

Joe Bartlett MIFireE

Formerly an ADO with Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Joe is an experienced fire safety officer. He undertakes fire risk assessments, and also provides general advice.

Malcolm Hoare MIFireE

Formerly a Senior Fire Safety Officer with West Midlands Fire Service, Malcolm is an experienced fire safety officer. He undertakes fire risk assessments and surveys, and also provides training and general advice.

Richard Calver GIFireE

An experienced fire safety officer, formerly with Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, Richard undertakes fire risk assessments and surveys, and also provides general advice.
