Fire Safety Consultants
In order to demonstrate competence, those of our staff who undertake fire risk assessments are required to be on the Register of Fire Risk Assessors and Auditors compiled by the Institution of Fire Engineers. This means they have undertaken a process through which their qualifications, training and experience have been evaluated, along with examples of fire risk assessments that they have completed. The register can be viewed at the IFE's website.
The practice's managing director is Colin Todd
Colin Todd MSc, FIFireE, FBEng, MIRM, MSFPE, C.Phys, FInstP, C.Eng, FIEE
Colin's early career was with the FOC (now LPC) and in insurance risk management. As part of his role, Colin delivers specialist training courses and routinely acts as an expert witness in contract disputes and civil and criminal cases. In addition to client liaison, he oversees the delivery of services to clients.
The technical director is Steven Daws
Steven Daws BSc, MSc, FBEng, C.Eng, FIFireE
Formerly with a major firm of consulting engineers as a specialist in fire protection engineering, Steven is a chartered fire engineer. He is routinely involved in input to fire safety designs, reviews of fire safety management systems and technical audits of fire protection systems. His role includes liaison with clients, managing the team of consultants and monitoring the quality of deliverables to clients.

John Kluth BSc(Eng), MIFireE, C.Eng, MRAeS
John is our Head of Specialist Risk Assessments. Prior to joining CSTA, John was Fire and Safety Manager for Barclays Bank. He also has extensive experience of fire insurance surveying. He undertakes fire risk assessments and audits, and provides fire engineering advice. In particular, he is responsible for liaising with a number of major clients. John is based in Warwickshire, although he carries out work for our clients both nationally and internationally.
Malcolm Hoare MIFireE
Malcolm is our Head of Specialist Training. Before joining CSTA, Malcolm was a Senior Fire Safety Officer with West Midlands Fire Service. He currently undertakes fire risk assessments and surveys, and also presents specialist training courses. In particular, he is responsible for managing major fire risk assessment programmes involving other consultants. Malcolm is based in the West Midlands.
Angus Stone BSc(Hons), CEng, FIET
Angus is our Head of Systems Engineering. Formerly with a major fire detection and alarm company as Engineering Director, Angus specialises in the engineering of fire detection and alarm systems and is responsible for managing other consultants undertaking projects on these systems.
Stephen Robinson BEng (Hons), MSc, CEng, MIFireE
Stephen is our Head of Fire Engineering. Stephen joined CSTA having formerly served for 30 years in London Fire Brigade, with 21 of those years specializing in fire engineering and fire safety. Stephen's role includes the preparation of fire strategy reports and undertaking fire engineering evaluations. He also carries out high-level fire risk assessments. Based in London, Stephen is well placed to assist our clients in the capital and surrounding areas.

Mick Broszko GIFireE, GradIOSH
Mick formerley worked for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service in a fire safety role. He carries out fire risk assessments, as well as providing training and other fire safety consultancy services for our clients. Mick is based in Lancashire and works for our clients throughout the UK.
Dick Calver Eng Tech, GIFireE
Dick previously worked for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service in a fire safety role. He carries out fire risk assessments and provides other fire safety consultancy services for our clients. Dick is based on the south coast, and works for our clients throughout the UK.
Mick Crew TIFireE
Prior to joining CSTA, Mick was a Fire Safety Advisor at Surrey County Council, having previously served in Surrey and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services. He carries out fire risk assessments and provides training and other fire safety consultancy services for our clients. Mick is based in Hampshire, and works for clients throughout the UK.
Paul Clayton BSc, MIFireE
Paul previously worked for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services as a senior inspector fire safety. He carries out fire risk assessments and provides other fire safety consultancy services for our clients. Paul is based in Leeds, and works for clients throughout the UK.
Charles Humphries Eng Tech, MIFireE, CMIOSH
Charles previously worked for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service in a fire safety role. He carries out fire risk assessments, fire safety training and other fire safety consultancy services for our clients. Charles is based in East Sussex, and assists our clients throughout the UK.
Keith Logie GIFireE, DMS, HND
Keith previously worked for Fife Fire and Rescue Service. He provides fire safety training and fire risk assessments for our clients. Keith is based in the East of Scotland, and assists our clients throughout the UK, particularly Scotland.
Dave Norgate HND MIFireE
Dave previously served in Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service as a senior officer in the fire safety department. After a period at the service headquarters setting policy and working at regional and national levels through CFOA, Dave moved to run the fire safety department in the western half of the county. He now carries out fire risk assessments and other fire safety consultancy services for our clients. Dave is based in Hampshire and provides services to clients primarily across London and the south east.
John Wildish MIFireE
John previously worked for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, latterly as Head of Technical Fire Safety. He carries out fire risk assessments and provides training and other fire safety consultancy services for our clients. John is based in Hampshire, and works for our clients throughout the UK.
Fire marshal training in the south east and fire evacuation drills for our clients throughout the UK are co-ordinated and monitored by our junior consultant who also provides operational support to the consultancy team.
The consultants are supported by the office team, headed by Naomi Davies BA (Hons), PA to Colin Todd and Office Manager.
The delivery of reports to our clients is the responsibility of our Client Deliverables Manager, Nicola Basu. Nicola is also responsible for co-ordinating all training delivered by the practice.
