A comprehensive one day fire safety training event following amendments to legislation and guidance following the current findings from the Public Inquiry, into the fire and loss of life at Grenfell Tower.

Who will benefit from attending?

This event is suitable for all those involved in the management, assessment and enforcement of fire safety in purpose-built blocks of flats. It will be particularly relevant to private and social landlords, other housing providers, risk assessors and enforcement authorities.  The course is accredited with 6 FIA CPD hours.

Learning Outcomes

Delegates will:

  • Enhance their knowledge of the laws governing fire safety in blocks of flats.
  • Increase their understanding of the fire safety design principles associated with blocks of flats.
  • Have the opportunity to explore the “stay put” policy and when it is appropriate.
  • Obtain insight into why fire risk assessment and fire safety in blocks of flats differs from other buildings.
  • Gain an understanding of fire safety legislation following recent changes.
  • Examine legislative requirements and changes for Fire Risk Assessment (FRA).
  • Review the fire risk assessment process.
  • Understand the status of PAS 79-2.
  • Have an awareness of some trending fire hazards and their elimination or control measures.
  • Have an overview of the status of available and proposed fire safety guidance.
  • Be provided with an update on fire safety measures and compartmentation.
  • Gain an overview of BS 8629.
  • Be updated on ‘where we are’ concerning means of escape for disabled and the current situation.
  • Have an understanding of management of fire safety following changes to legislation.

Delegates will have an opportunity to discuss technical and management issues associated with this important guidance.

This course can be delivered as an in-house course and is sometimes run as a public course.
